William H. Zipf

Bill Zipf, 1914-1981, formerly of Franklin County, possessed unique qualities as a writer and verbal communicator. His ability to humanize the thousands of news accounts made him one of the most listened and read reporters in the Mid-West.

At the height of his career, he annually produced 312 radio rural news casts, 250 agri-business related television shows and 250 farm columns for the “Columbus Dispatch”. He used every opportunity to advertise agriculture and he delighted in promoting young people engaged in agricultural activities, particularly those in Junior Fair programs. He enjoyed speaking to community gatherings as he told the story of agriculture to nearly 50 groups annually.
