Willard W. Ellenwood

Willard White Ellenwood, 1892-1971, formerly of Jackson County, was an innovator in the orchard industry. He pioneered many widely used techniques at his Tom Corwin Farm and Orchard, such as soil building practices and powered pruning equipment. He also bred championship winning Percheron horses, for greater power and productivity, originally for farm and orchard work.

He also developed a strain of Corriedale sheep to graze in apple orchards, thereby giving orchardists a second cash crop. A leader and officer of many organizations, he was an administrator with the Ohio Department of Agriculture also serving on the Ohio State Board of Agriculture under five governors.
