John M. Grierson

John Grieson, Highland County, was a member of the Ohio State University College of Agriculture staff as a speaker and lecturer of Farmers Institutes, 1927-1945. He was an enthusiastic spokesman for farming and farm life. He sought methods to improve farming and farm living. In the mid 1930’s, he recognized the Farm Credit System and played a major role in the early organization of local Production Credit Associations in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio.

He served as Lebanon PCA fieldman and then as fieldman for Ohio PCA and as assistant to the President of the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank at Louisville, Kentucky for the last ten years of his career. Mr. Grierson was appointed by the Governor of Ohio as one of the original members of the State Soil and Water Commission.

He also operated a dairy and general livestock farm in Highland County.
