James E. Dougan

James E. Dougan, 1915-1979 was an untiring educator who devoted 38 years to vocational education. At the time of his death, he held the position of State Supervisor, Vocational Agriculture, Ohio Department of Education.

His greatest contribution to Ohio agriculture was that he broadened the career-training programs of vocational agriculture from farming only to all vocational-level agricultural careers. As an eminent leader, he was tremendously interested in young people and strongly promoted quality youth education and development. His ability to communicate enabled him to educate vocational teachers across Ohio and beyond.

As a committed community leader, he served 12 years on the Franklin County Board of Education and 4 years on the Eastland Joint Vocational School Board of Education, as President of the Gahanna Lions Club and was a 32nd Deg
