Charles Julius Willard

Charles Julius Willard, as an Ohio State University Agronomy Professor, played a prominent role in introducing legumes, especially sweet clover, into the cropping systems of Ohio. For 42 years he served Ohio farmers, having been one of the first scientists to study the cultural and chemical control of many types of weeds.

In 1948, he served as senior scientist and attache for the United States Department of State at the United States Embassy in London, England. He served the American Society of Agronomy as chairman of the Crops Section in 1941, Vice President in 1953 and President in 1954.
