Joseph E. Wing

Joseph E. Wing, Champaign County- known as “Alfalfa Joe” because of his work in introducing alfalfa to Ohio, beginning about 1888. His efforts were recognized at his death in 1915 through a memorial fund subscribed from all 48 states and several foreign countries.

He developed the Wing Joist Frame Barn, published several books on agriculture, and was a long-time writer in the Ohio Farmer and Breeders’ Gazette.
