Leonard M. Bettinger

Leonard M. Bettinger, Lucas County, has pioneered several new and innovative ideas in the production of bedding plants-annual plants for transplanting into gardens and flower beds. Bettinger was one of the initial adapters in the use of polyethylene in the growing of bedding plants.

Active in many organizations and serving in several capacities, he has been President of the Toledo Area Vegetable Growers Association; the Toledo Greenhouse Association; the Lucas County Soil Conservation District; Lucas County Farm Bureau; the Ohio Vegetable and Potato Growers Association; the National Association of Greenhouse Vegetable Growers; and the International Organization of Bedding Plant Growers. Leonard Bettinger serves as the Manager and Director of one of the most innovative and outstanding farm operations in the vegetable and plant industry.
