Samuel C. Cashman

Sam Cashman, Franklin County, has devoted more than 4 decades to the betterment of the state’s largest industry. He has been a leader as an agricultural journalist, as a soil conservationist, as a public servant and as a community leader. His contributions include serving as a county agricultural agent, as assistant director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, and as manager of the Ohio State Fair. A significant portion of his career was with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation where he first worked with various commodity groups and later became an outstanding editor of the Buckeye Farm News.

Cashman’s life long interest in the preservation of the state’s natural resources has been evident through his active involvement in the Ohio Forestry Association and the Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Districts Association. He has also devoted energy to the Ohio 4-H program serving as chairman of the Ohio 4-Fl Foundation. His contributions to Ohio agriculture have earned him numerous state and national recognitions of Commerce.
