William E. Krauss

William E. Krauss, deceased, of Wooster was a nationally-recognized agricultural research administrator holding positions of leadership in the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station. With over 43 years of service to Ohio’s agricultural industry. Krauss was instrumental in establishing the nutritional requirement for Vitamin D and for fortifying foods with Vitamin D. He was a nationally recognized authority on state, regional and national research policy and programs publishing over 222 research bulletins and articles.

Krauss was a member of the National Academy of Science and, as a member, assisted in the development of nutrition standards. He was a leader in dairy research and served as the chairman of the Department of Dairy Husbandry at OSU. Krauss was born in Newark, NJ and resided until his death in Wooster. He is survived by his wife Margaret.
