Carl R. Arnold

Carl R. Arnold was born in Oregon, but moved to a farm near Arcanum, Ohio in 1908. A graduate of The Ohio State University, he received his bachelor of science degree in 1920.

Arnold was an expert in farm finance and helped organize the Farm Credit Administration. He was a member of the Department of Agricultural Economics at The Ohio State University from 1920 to 1933. In 1933 he became Deputy Commissioner of Production Credit in the Farm Credit Administration at Washington. He held this position until 1940 when he was named Commissioner. He retired to the home farm in 1951. In 1953 he was recalled to Washington by President Eisenhower to serve as Governor of the Farm Credit Administration.
